STIRRED but not shaken
Last Wednesday night I began a short series entitle Stirred but not Shaken. Acts 16:16-40 tells one of the amazing journeys or Paul and Silas. They were preaching the Gospel, cast a demon out of a woman who was a fortune teller causing her employers she was enslaved to a loss of Money. They were stripped, beaten, chained to the prison walls and locked in a Jail cell. What amazes me the most is how they allowed their faith to be stirred thru this process and not shaken. Scripture tells us they began to sing songs and hymns to the Lord. After all that, they were worshiping and praising God. How many of us ARE doing the same, right now, Monday April 6th? In the midst of all this uncertainly, all the questions? Have you allowed your Faith to be Shaken or are you allowing it to be Stirred? 2 Timothy 1: 6-7 reminds us to stir up the gifts that are within us. At Midnight the ground began to SHAKE and all the prison doors opened. They were all set free however they didn't leave. The Jailor was going to take his own life, instead Paul and Silas convinced him all was OK. He invited them to his house where his entire family was saved and baptized. Shaking = Fear / Stirring = Faith.
